YAF — “Gen Z Doctor” — Ghana
About the Man Behind the Mission
Science for the
People. In Their
Own Language.
I am Yeboah Agyekum Francis — a Biomedical Scientist, self-taught Trichologist, and Professional Barber from Kintampo, Brong-Ahafo, Ghana. I believe every person deserves to understand their own body, and that knowledge should never be locked behind language barriers or clinic walls.
My Story
From Kintampo to Ghana’s Screens
“I don’t do this for the money. I do it because the knowledge was always there — it just wasn’t reaching the right people.”
The Beginning
Kintampo Born. Science Driven.
Yeboah Agyekum Francis grew up in Kintampo, a town in the Brong-Ahafo region of Ghana — far from the university hospitals and specialist clinics of Accra. Health information, when it existed at all, arrived in English — in the textbook language of a system built for those who already had access.
YAF pursued formal academic training in Biomedical Science, earning the qualifications that gave him the scientific foundation he needed. But it was what happened after graduation that shaped his real mission. Like many qualified graduates in Ghana, the formal jobs were scarce. So he returned to a craft he had always carried — barbering — and built 4HL Cutz, his professional barbering identity.
“The jobs weren’t there. But the knowledge was. And people around me — in the barbershop, in the market, in the family — were dying of things they could have prevented if someone had just told them the truth in a language they understood.”
It was in that space between the science textbook and the barber’s chair that YAF found his real calling: not just cutting hair, but growing minds. He sat down behind a camera and started speaking — in Twi, in plain terms, with zero tolerance for myths or fear tactics.
The Science
Three Disciplines. One Purpose.
What makes YAF genuinely different is not just that he creates content — it is the intersection of three distinct disciplines that almost no one else in Ghana occupies simultaneously.
As a Biomedical Scientist, YAF was formally trained to understand disease mechanisms, laboratory science, human physiology, and pathology. This is not opinion; it is methodology. He knows what a diagnosis requires, how a disease progresses, and what the body is actually communicating when it sends symptoms.
As a self-taught Trichologist, he devoted years to studying the specific science of hair and scalp health — an area where misinformation is rampant and West African-specific research is chronically underrepresented in mainstream content.
As a Professional Barber, he works on real people, with real hair, in real conditions every day. His knowledge is not theoretical. It has been tested, refined, and proven at the chair.
The Mission
Filling Ghana’s Biggest Health Gap
Ghana has millions of Twi and Akan speakers. The overwhelming majority of health communication — on television, in clinics, in public campaigns — reaches them in English. For many, that means the information simply does not land. It is heard but not understood. Acted upon rarely. Forgotten quickly.
YAF changed that equation. By delivering rigorous, science-backed health education in the mother tongue of millions, he triggered something the formal health system had never managed: genuine mass engagement. People started sharing his videos with their mothers, their fathers, their uncles. Communities began discussing diseases they had been afraid to name. The silence around men’s health, around scalp conditions, around early disease signs — began to break.
“He is filling a gap Ghanaians — especially Twi/Akan speakers — have suffered for far too long.” — Mansa Musa, NFM Radio, writing in ModernGhana, 2026
From Ghana to the world, YAF’s reach has grown to 651,000+ Facebook followers, millions of monthly video views across platforms, and a community that waits for every new episode — not as passive viewers, but as active learners taking his lessons into their lives.
Standing Firm
Calm in the Face of the Storm
As his reach grew, so did the pressure. Some members of the medical establishment questioned his approach. Spiritual voices threatened him publicly. His own mother was frightened enough to publicly ask him to stop.
YAF’s response revealed exactly who he is. When a prominent seer declared a dire public prophecy against him, YAF did not panic, did not retaliate, and did not fold. He shared the video calmly on his Instagram page — and attached a single line of scripture: “Psalm 23:4: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
That response — grounded, composed, spiritually anchored — said more about his character than any content video could. It is not bravado. It is conviction. The conviction of someone who knows the work matters and refuses to abandon the people who depend on it.
“For now, he is the one doing God’s work. Let us all support him.” — Mansa Musa, ModernGhana
Expertise & Credentials
Three Disciplines.
One Trusted Voice.
Biomedical Scientist
Formally trained in biomedical science, YAF understands disease mechanisms, human physiology, pathology, and laboratory diagnostics at an academic level. His content is grounded in methodology, not opinion.
Academic TrainingSelf-Taught Trichologist
Years of independent study in the science of hair and scalp health, focused specifically on conditions affecting West Africans — an area chronically underserved by mainstream trichology content.
Specialist KnowledgeProfessional Barber
Operating as 4HL Cutz, YAF is an active professional barber — meaning his trichology and hair knowledge is tested on real people daily. Theory meets practice at every appointment.
Hands-On PracticeWhat YAF Stands For
The Principles Behind
Every Video
No Myths. No Exceptions.
Every claim YAF makes is grounded in biomedical science. He does not entertain myths, old wives’ tales, or unverified remedies — regardless of how widely they are believed. If science does not support it, YAF will not repeat it.
In the Language You Think In
Health education delivered in Twi and Akan — the language most Ghanaians actually process information in. YAF believes that if your health message cannot be understood, it has failed. Simple as that.
No Fear Tactics
Health content that frightens people into paralysis helps no one. YAF educates with calm authority. He names conditions, explains mechanisms, and always pivots toward what you can actually do — because empowerment beats fear every time.
Ghana-Centred Truth
Western health content often ignores the specific conditions, diets, climates, and genetic profiles that affect West Africans. YAF builds his content around the real health landscape of Ghana — because his people deserve health education that fits their actual lives.
The Journey
From Kintampo
to Every Screen in Ghana
Where It All Began
Born and raised in Kintampo, Yeboah grew up in a community where health information rarely arrived in a language people truly understood. The gap between knowledge and access planted a seed.
Biomedical Science — Formally Qualified
YAF earned his academic qualifications in Biomedical Science from a reputable Ghanaian university — building the scientific foundation that would underpin everything to come.
4HL Cutz — Barbering Becomes a Platform
Unable to find formal employment in a saturated graduate market, YAF returned to professional barbering — building 4HL Cutz while self-studying trichology. The barber chair became his first classroom.
Health Education in Twi Begins
From his base in Accra, YAF began recording health education content in Twi/Akan — breaking down disease signs, scalp science, and men’s wellness in the mother tongue of millions. The internet responded immediately.
651K+ Followers. Millions of Monthly Views.
YAF’s community exploded. With 651,000+ Facebook followers and millions of monthly video views, he became Ghana’s most-followed Twi health educator — recognised by national media, covered by ModernGhana, and celebrated from Accra to the diaspora.
Standing Firm Under Pressure
Facing criticism from some medical professionals and spiritual threats from public figures, YAF responded with calm, scripture, and continued work. The community rallied. The mission continues — stronger than ever.
The YAF Philosophy
“Knowledge that doesn’t reach you is knowledge that doesn’t exist for you.”
That is why every video is produced in Twi. That is why every explanation is stripped of jargon. That is why the camera goes on whether the audience is 100 or 1,000,000 — because the person on the other side of the screen deserves the same truth that a doctor’s family member gets over dinner.
Facebook followers who came not through paid promotion but through content that genuinely changed how people understood their health.
People actively talking about YAF’s content on Facebook alone — a remarkable engagement ratio reflecting real community investment.
Active platforms — Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok — reaching Ghanaians and diaspora wherever they consume content.
